Our Cultural Events & Community Initiatives

Our calendar is filled with a variety of events that reflect the heart and soul of our community. From celebrating our cultural heritage to giving back to society, each event strengthens the bonds of our PKS family.

Independence Day & Republic Day: We come together to honor our nation with a spirit of patriotism and unity. Our celebrations include a solemn flag hoisting, patriotic songs, and cultural performances by our members, reminding us of our shared heritage and the democratic values we cherish.

Onam Festival: As the biggest and most vibrant festival in Kerala, Onam is a grand affair at PKS. Our celebration features a magnificent Pookkalam (floral carpet) competition, the traditional Onam Sadhya (a feast served on a banana leaf), and captivating cultural performances like Thiruvathirakali and the rhythmic beats of the Chenda Melam.

Vishu: We welcome the Malayalam New Year with a focus on new beginnings and prosperity. The highlight of our Vishu celebration is the Vishu Kani, an auspicious arrangement that families view as the first sight of the day for good fortune. This is complemented by our popular Vishu Chanda, a vibrant food fest where you can buy a variety of homemade Kerala special items, from sweet payasams to crispy snacks and authentic sadya curries.

Christmas Festival: Our Christmas celebration is a joyous, inclusive event that brings everyone together in a spirit of peace and harmony. We mark the occasion with beautiful carols, nativity plays, and the arrival of Santa Claus, spreading happiness and festive cheer to all.

Beyond Celebrations: Our Commitment to the Community

The Pallavaram Kerala Samajam is deeply committed to the well-being and growth of our members. Our initiatives go beyond festivals to serve and empower our community.

Blood Donation Camp: As part of our civic duty, we regularly organize blood donation camps in collaboration with reputable blood banks. This initiative allows us to contribute to a noble cause and save lives, showcasing our collective responsibility to help those in need.

Malayalam Class: To ensure our language and heritage are passed down, we offer Malayalam classes for all age groups. Taught by dedicated volunteers, these classes help children and adults learn to read, write, and speak Malayalam, creating a strong link to our roots.

Skill Development Workshops: We believe in empowering our members with practical skills. Our workshops on topics like Mushroom Cultivation provide hands-on training, teaching members how to grow their own food and even explore new livelihood opportunities.
