Independence Day & Republic Day Celebrations

The Pallavaram Kerala Samajam celebrates these national days with a spirit of patriotism and unity. The festivities begin with the solemn national flag hoisting ceremony, followed by the National Anthem. Our program often includes a series of cultural performances, such as patriotic songs and dances by children and adults from the community. A highlight is often a speech by a distinguished guest or our president, reflecting on the significance of the day and inspiring the younger generation to become responsible citizens. The event concludes with the distribution of sweets, fostering a sense of camaraderie and collective joy.

Onam Festival

Our annual Onam celebration is a grand affair that transports the spirit of Kerala right to our community. The festivities are centered around the beautiful Pookkalam (floral carpet) competition, where families and teams compete to create the most intricate and colorful designs. The main attraction is the traditional Onam Sadhya, a vegetarian feast served on a banana leaf, featuring a variety of delectable curries, payasams, and other authentic dishes. The cultural stage comes alive with mesmerizing performances like Thiruvathirakali (a graceful dance by women), classical and folk dances, and the rhythmic beats of the Chenda Melam. It is a day of fun, food, and cultural immersion, bringing together generations to cherish our roots.

Vishu Chanda

A major highlight of our Vishu celebration is the Vishu Food Fest, a vibrant market where members and visitors can savor the authentic flavors of Kerala. Our committee members and talented home chefs prepare a wide variety of traditional dishes, making it a perfect opportunity to experience the richness of Kerala’s culinary heritage.

Blood Donation Camp

Pallavaram Kerala Samajam takes pride in its civic responsibility. Our Blood Donation Camps are organized in partnership with reputable hospitals and blood banks to ensure a safe and professional environment for all donors. The event is a call to action for our community to contribute to this noble cause. We believe that a single donation can make a significant difference, and this camp serves as a powerful reminder of our collective duty to help those in need.

Malayalam Class

Our Malayalam classes are designed to help members, particularly children, learn to read, write, and speak the language. Taught by experienced and dedicated volunteers, these classes are not just about grammar and vocabulary; they are a bridge to our heritage. We use engaging and interactive teaching methods to make learning fun, ensuring that the younger generation can communicate with their grandparents and stay connected to their roots. These classes foster a sense of belonging and cultural continuity.

Mushroom Cultivation Workshop

This unique and highly-practical workshop is a perfect example of our efforts to empower the community with new skills. Experts in the field guide participants through the process of cultivating mushrooms at home, from preparing the substrate to harvesting the final product. The workshop provides hands-on training, teaching members how to grow a nutritious and profitable crop in a small space. It’s an initiative that promotes self-sufficiency and an eco-friendly lifestyle.

Christmas Festival

The Christmas festival at Pallavaram Kerala Samajam is a vibrant and inclusive event. It features a special cultural program with carols by the choir, nativity plays by children, and a variety of performances that capture the festive mood. The celebration is a testament to the community’s multicultural harmony, where people from all backgrounds come together to share the joy of the season.
